Have you ever wondered how people used to work when these numbers were not there? When was the number invented, who did it and how? Today we will try to find the answer to all these questions related to the story of numbers.

Story of numbers

Story of numbers

Many thousands of years ago, animals like camels, sheep, goats were bought and sold. To keep track of it, people had figured out a way in which numbers were not needed. Earlier, when there was no means of accounting, people used to draw three lines on the sand and place pebbles on those lines. Only those pebbles were used to account for the purchase and sale. Which was later named Abacus. It can be called Geantara in Hindi. It is derived from a Latin word that means bandage or plank. After that, China first started the colorful beadcon abacus. In that abacus, colorful beads could be moved around on sticks. Later they began to be used in slates of children in abacus schools.

Numbers were invented in India about 3000 years ago. The numeral system started in India and later reached Europe in 1202. First of all the people of India invented the numbers from 1 to 9 which were written like this in Hindi. १,२,३,४,५,६,७,८,९, But even before the Indian numeral system reached Europe, the inhabitants of Rome had made up their numeral system from English letters.

Why and How Zero is invented?

The Indian numeral system had reached Europe through the Arabs, hence it came to be called the Arabic numeral. Indians had made a number system from 1 to 9 but later they felt the lack of zero. When there was a problem in accounting without zero, then the thought of zero started. To overcome this difficulty, the people of India started putting a dot. The same dot slowly took the form of zero. When zero was discovered and who did it, it also has its own story, which we will talk about in the next article.

At present, the world has come from a revolution with the invention of zero. Now it has become easy to count not only lakhs of crores but also billions of trillions. The number system was completed with the arrival of zero. In this way, we know the story of numbers and how they came into the world, and how they were used.
