What Are The Disadvantages Of Eating Papaya?

Papaya is a fruit rich in medicinal properties. In some places, people also make vegetables, which are very tasty to eat. It is rich in antibacterial and antifungal properties. People like to eat it on an empty stomach in the morning. It is a low-calorie food which helps in reducing weight. Its consumption slows down the aging process. It is a better treatment for skin problems. It also controls the level of cholesterol. Along with this, it is also helpful in treating constipation. Despite being full of so many properties, papaya also has many disadvantages. Eating it can also cause many side effects.


Food pipe damage

Consuming more of this fruit can damage the food pipe which is commonly known as the esophagus.

Can cause miscarriage

Don’t forget to eat this during pregnancy. Consuming raw papaya during pregnancy can cause harm. Unprocessed papain, one of the chemicals found in papayas, can poison the fetus or cause birth defects.

Can cause allergy

Papaya can cause a lot of allergies. It contains a substance called papain. This is what causes papain allergies.  Do not consume any product related to this if it is causing papain allergy.

Affect fertility

Its seed extract can reduce fertility, especially in men. Its consumption can reduce the number of sperm. Apart from this, it can also affect the motility of sperm.

Harm to sugar patients

If you are a patient of sugar, then consumption of this fruit can be dangerous for you. Papaya that has been fermented, may lower blood sugar. 

Affect surgery

 Experts say that fermented papaya reduces blood sugar. So fermented papaya might affect blood sugar during and after surgery. If you have to undergo any surgery, then stop using this fruit or any substance related to it 2 weeks in advance. 


Ripe papaya does not do as much damage as raw papaya does. So try to eat only ripe.
