Sinusitis is an infection that occurs in the sinuses. To maintain the normal movement of our face and head, there are naturally some air-filled spaces in the bones of the face and body, called sinuses. These 4 pairs, i.e., total 8. They are interconnected with each other. It is found on both sides of the nose, cheeks, and forehead. The innermost layer of the sinus is called the mucous membrane, which is made up of soft tissue. These membranes keep the air inhaled moistly. Mucus also protects the respiratory tract from infection by blocking dust and micro-organisms in the nose. Healthy sinuses are filled with air, but germs can grow in them when they become clogged. There are two types of sinusitis.

Chronic sinusitis. When there is inflammation in the sinuses, and the problem persists even after taking treatment for 3 months, it is called chronic sinusitis.

Acute sinusitis. It is a temporary infection of the sinuses that can be caused by a cold. The risk of acute sinusitis increases with the change of seasons.
