This day was first celebrated in 2015, when the Prime minister Narendra Modi lead the way in United National General Assembly 27 September 2014.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “yoga is a priceless gift from the tradition of ancient India. It is the symbol of unity of the body and mind. There is harmony between man and nature. It also provide a holistic approach to health and well being. By becoming this consciousness in our changing lifestyles, it can help us deal with climate change. So let’s work towards adopting an International Yoga Day”. After then, June 21 was declared as “International Yoga day”.
