Last year, India was knocked out in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2021 in the United States of America. But this time, the Indian team is gearing up for Australia’s ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Indian team, which made a clean sweep in the T20 series against West Indies, will now play three T20 matches against Sri Lanka from Thursday. Suryakumar Yadav became Man of the Series in T20 against West Indies. Apart from this, Venkatesh Iyer did not let the lack of Hardik Pandya to some extent.
For ICC T20 World Cup 2022
The Indian team was searching for the No. 4 batsman for many years. And now it seems that the wait is over. Suryakumar has been successful in T20 at number four and fifth. The way he played a swashbuckling inning in the third T20 against West Indies, it is clear that he can become the backbone of the middle order in T20. Venkatesh has also proved himself by taking two wickets in the third T20. Since Hardik Pandya’s injury, India wants an all-rounder who can run the bat and fast bowling. Apart from Venkatesh, Shardul Thakur can also do this. Some players will get more chances in the series against Sri Lanka starting this week. After that, the management will decide who to bet on for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 held in October-November this year.
Virat will also rest against Sri Lanka, but he will play at No. 3 in the World Cup. Rishabh Pant is getting ready for number four and Surya Kumar for number five. Venkatesh is cementing his place at No. 6. If Ravindra Jadeja remains fit, he will play as a spin all-rounder. In the bowling, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harsal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Muhammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Singh Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav are the eyes of the team management.
Rahul Dravid Opinion
Indian team coach Rahul Dravid also said, ” I and captain Rohit Sharma are pretty clear about the team composition for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. We have a clear opinion on how we should play for Australia, based on which we are preparing. However, we have not set any fixed criteria, but we want to give a fair chance to all. We want to make sure that some of our players have at least 10 to 20 matches experience by the time they play the T20 World Cup“.
India Vs Sri Lanka
