Ola Cabs has become the top cab service in India. With more than 73% of the market share, it has become the most prominent taxi service. This is beating its rival Uber. Ola is planning to expand its operation. The company is planning to take the cab service to the next level. Ola Boat may soon be a real thing.

The cab service company has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Assam. The company will bring an app-based boat taxi service in the city of Guwahati. The city is also the financial hub of Northeast.

According to Economic Times, the M0U was signed during the Global Investors Summit in Guwahati. The deal was signed in presence of Transport and Commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary along with Vijay Ghadge, Vice President Operations of Ola.

How will the Boat Taxi’s operate?
The boat taxi will be machine operated, which is faster than other boats. Ola cabs will reduce the travel time by 2-5 minutes from 45 minutes by road. Ola is planning to enable cashless payments and advance booking option to make bookings more easy and convenient.

The company launched its cab services in Assam in 2014. With water transportation plays an important role in cities like Guwahati, the minister of transportation believes that Ola will help in enhancing the transportation infrastructure.
