The meeting has started on 3 pm on 24 June. The first discussion took place between Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah. This meeting was attend by National leader Farooq Abdullah and Umar Farooq, congress leader Gulam Nabi Aazad, peoples democratic party leader Mehbooba Mufti and Chamanlal from BJP and other secretaries of Jammu and Kashmir. Besides this Prime minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah, National security advisor Ajit Doval , Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Territory Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and many other senior were the part of this meeting.
This meeting lasted for about three and half hours. This is the first meeting of the central government with political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir after the abolition of statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. And also bifurcation of it into two Union territories.
The purpose of this meeting has not been clarified. But it is believing that there can be talk about the starting the election process in the state. This meeting is considering very important in the political point of view in Jammu and Kashmir.
On the other hand , in this meeting, the leader of Gupkar Alliance have said that they will demand restoration of statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Union territory has issued a high alert in the view of meeting. Also security is being tightened in the entire area along with vigilance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweet, “Our priority is to strengthen grassroots democracy in J&K. Delimitation has to happen at a quick pace so that polls can happen and J&K gets an elected Government that gives strength to J&K’s development trajectory.”
