It was rumored that the WhatsApp messaging app serves to encrypt chat backups for the longest time. This feature of encrypting has previously been revealed during several beta tests. That’s why WhatsApp has come up with its new feature. Users can now add this additional layer of security to their iCloud and Google Drive accounts. This feature of the company has been made available for both Android and iOS users. Through this new feature, users can encrypt the chats that they have backed up on Google Drive and iCloud.

What Company said about chat backups?

According to the company, when you encrypt your chat, even WhatsApp or Facebook cannot read it. Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has told about this through a post on one of his pages. Through the post, he announced the rollout of end-to-end encryption for cloud backup. While making this feature available to the users of WhatsApp, it has been said that while end-to-end encrypted messages you send and receive are archived on your device, many people also want a way to back up their chats if they lose their phone. With this kind of problem in mind, starting today, we’re providing an additional, optional layer of security with end-to-end encryption to backups stored on Google Drive or iCloud.

No other global messaging service offers this level of security for its users’ messages, photos media, voice messages, video calls, and chat backups at such a large scale. Apart from this, the company has also said that users can now protect their end-to-end encrypted backups with a password of their choice or with 64-digit encryption keys. Only the users will know about this password, and the company will also not have the right to know this password. Neither WhatsApp nor the users’ backup service provider will read and unlock this backup.
In this way, now you will not have any worry about your chats being leaked. With this new feature of WhatsApp, all your problems will be solved WhatsApp. Let us see how you can activate this new feature on your device.

How to Activate Encryption for Chat backups?

  • First of all, go to the setting of WhatsApp.
  • You will see the chat option, tap there and scroll down.
  • There will be an option of chat backups; tap on it. Once it is open, you have to tap on End-to-End Encrypted Backup.
  • Then you will be given the option to continue; click on it.
  • Then register for the password or keys.
  • When you have created your password, tap Done.
  • Then wait for WhatsApp to create your end-to-end encrypted backup.

After this, in the menu, you will see the option to turn it off. There you have to enter the password that you have created for end-to-end encryption.
