CTET (CENTRAL TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST)

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is an eligibility test conducted by the central government. Under this, teachers are appointed from classes one to eight. By the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) vide Notification dated 23rd August 2010 and 29th JULY, 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for class I to VIII. The Ministry of Education of India has given the responsibility of taking the CTET exam to CBSE (Central board of secondary education).

Process

CBSE conducts this exam twice a year. There are two types of paper in this. In the first paper, there are exams from 1 to 5 and in the second paper from 6 to 8. This exam is completed in two sittings in a single day.

Qualification

The qualification for both the papers is different. To give papers 1 to 5, you must have a certificate of D.El.Ed. And you must have a certificate of B.Ed from 6 to 8. However, those who have a B.Ed degree can appear for both papers.

Syllabus

According to the notice through the website, its syllabus is as follows: For papers 1 to 5:-

  • Child development and education
  • Language 1
  • Language 2
  • Maths
  • Environmental studies

For papers 6 to 8:-

  • Child development and education
  • Language 1
  • Language 2
  • Math
  • Science
  • Environmental studies/ social science ( you can choose anyone)

For qualify

Candidates have to secure 60% to get qualified. This exam has been going offline till now. It is mandatory to qualify for this exam to apply in Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Where you can apply after qualified

The candidates who are successful in this exam will able to apply to Central Government Schools like NVS( Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti), Central Tibetan School, etc and the schools under the administrative control of Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and the NCT of Delhi. Apart from this, they can also involve in the teacher recruitment process which conducts the state governments.

Validity

The validity period of the CTET eligibility certificate for appointment is valid for whole life for all categories. Application To apply for CTET, you can apply online by visiting its official website ctet.nic.in
