It is believed that Lord Vishnu was born as the ninth incarnation of Vaishakh’s full moon. Satya Vinayak Purnima is also celebrated on this day, it is believed that on this day, Sudhama, a childhood friend of Lord Shri Krishna childhood, had visited him in the days of poverty. During this time, when both friends sat together, Krishna told Sudama the law of Satyavinayak Vrat. Sudhama duly made this fast and destroyed his poverty. There is also the recognition of worshiping Dharmaraj on this day. It is said that Dharmaraj is happy with Satyavinayak fast. It is believed that Dharmaraj is the god of death, hence, his happiness reduces the fear of premature death.
For Hindus, every month’s full moon is devoted to Lord Vishnu. On this day, Ganga bath is considered beneficial and sin-destroying in pilgrimage sites. But Vaishakh Purnima (Buddha Purnima 2018) has its own importance. The reason for this is that it is said that the full moon in this month is in the Sun and its moon is also in its upper zodiac sign. It is said that the Buddha taken on the full moon day destroys the sins of many births.
