Beneficial Value of Milk and Its Products

Milk contains high nutritional value among all food items. It has vitamins, minerals, calcium, fats, and many more. Pure milk( without water or any other substances) is available mostly in rural areas. Milk and its products are very beneficial for health.

 It is believed that prehistoric man learned about milk during the domestication of animals in The Neolithic Revolution about 12,000 years ago. Verghese Kurien is known as the ‘Father of the white revolution.’ This revolution was one of the biggest development by the Indian government in 1970. After that milk production was increased from 22,000 tons in the year 1980 to 140,000 tons by 1989. With milk, several dairy products are formed. Curd(yogurt), cream, cheese, ghee are some of the main products of milk. Using these products, many by-products are formed and every product and by-product has its nutritional value. Let us discuss it one by one.

It is also called yogurt. Bacteria of milk ferment to form this yogurt. Low-fat yogurt can be a good source of protein. It can Help To Strengthen Immunity, help in digestion, regulate blood sugar levels, be helpful in weight loss, preserve bone mass, etc.


It is formed by the evaporation of water which is present on the topmost layer of milk when it is heated. A thick (depending on the quality of milk)  layer is appeared after bonding with protein molecules and fat molecules. It is beneficial mostly in beauty treatment. It cures about all skin-related problems like an aging, dark circle and provides glowing, lightening in the skin.


It is prepared by the coagulation of milk protein casein, usually, is prepared by acidifying the milk by adding some rennet( an enzyme). It is a rich source of protein, calcium, vitamin-B12, vitamin -A, phosphorus, etc. This can prevent osteoporosis(bone becomes weak), be beneficial in dental problems, also it can lower blood pressure.


It is prepared by a traditional method where the cream is churned by Bilona method. It is beneficial mostly for medical purposes. According to Ayurveda a teaspoon of ghee in a day provide essential fatty acids, enhances immunity. It cures cough and Digestion-Related Problems.
