Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar gave his order to CBI against to former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the Adarsh housing scam.
Under section 197 of Cr PC,Chavan will be prosecuted.He also will be charged under Section 120-B and 420 of the IPC.
According to protocol, all the decision related to Governor are based on the advise of the state council of ministers.So it gives the approval that he sanction the prosecution.
The Indian Express had informed that the CBI’s steps to seek the Governor’s approval to prosecute former CM Ashok Chavan appears to have been triggered by a communication.it received from the BJP-led state government.
The previous government headed by Prithviraj Chavan partially accepted the commission’s findings.
Reacting to the development, Mr. Chavan questioned the legality of the CBI seeking sanction from the Governor for the second time.
